The anticipation (or dread) of family gatherings, each with its own emotional choreography.

Executive functions — such as logical sequencing, short- and long-term planning, problem-solving, risk evaluation, understanding cause and effect, self-regulation (of emotions, language, behaviours, etc.) and managing frustration — are fundamental skills that guide how we act in the world.

Play has a vital role in children’s development, but what may surprise many parents and caregivers is its function within family dynamics.Playing is not just a pleasant way to spend time together — it’s a real investment in the relationship with our children, a way to strengthen emotional closeness and build mutual trust. Child-led play, where children choose what to do and take the lead, boosts self-esteem and reinforces the parent–child bond.
